History
Founded in 1988 by the Vehbi Koç Foundation, the Koç School has quickly become one of Turkey's most selective and competitive university preparatory schools. It attracts an outstanding academic staff of Turkish and foreign teachers, and students who score at the highest levels of entrance examinations. Koç School seeks to be a leader and a pioneer in Turkish education and to set standards for other schools to follow.
The addition of an elementary school in 1998 brought total enrollment of Koç School to 2000+ students from Kindergarten to 12th Grade. Throughout, there is an emphasis on achieving the best that can be offered in the Turkish and western educational systems. English is taught beginning in Kindergarten and incorporated increasingly into the curriculum as students grow older, leading to a fully bilingual program in high school (Lise) years to prepare Turkish students for admission to top universities at home and overseas. Each year, 40% of our graduates go abroad for further education.
The majority of Koç students come from the İstanbul area, although the school draws a substantial number from parts of Anatolia. While almost all of our students are Turkish, some English speaking foreign nationals are admitted each year as guest students. To take full advantage of the school's excellent facilities and educational opportunities, some students in grades 6-12 choose to board at the school 5 and 7 days a week.
The Koç School is fully accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Education and is a member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC).
