Fields of Hire

Foreign teachers can be hired at Koç only in the subjects of English, ESL, Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language (French, German), Computer Science and Economics. By Ministry of Education regulations, the other subjects must be taught in Turkish by Turkish nationals. Turkish regulations also stipulate that administrative positions must be held by Turks, with the exception only of the General Director, IB Coordinator, Director of College Counseling and the Chairs of the Science, Mathematics, English, Third Language and Computer/IT Departments.

Our normal pattern is to survey the present overseas hire faculty in December regarding plans for the next school year, allowing us to know prior to the beginning of the winter recruiting conferences exactly what our needs are. Almost always there are some positions at elementary and high school levels available in English, ESL, Mathematics and in one or more of the sciences. Occasionally there are openings in French or German. The bulk of the hiring for the following year will be accomplished by late May but last minute openings occasionally occur during the summer months.
