School Campus
Located on a 750 acre campus on the eastern outskirts of İstanbul, Koç School is 30 km. from the Bosphorus, 10 km. north of the Marmara Sea and 50 km. south of the Black Sea. A recently completed stretch of the İstanbul-Ankara highway is just 3 km. from campus, making the city readily accessible by bus or car. A new airport has been built near the school.
Set in farmland, the campus includes the High School building, built in 1988, the Elementary School building, completed in 1998, 64 housing units for teachers and administrators (32 single and 32 families), a campus Social Center for resident faculty, outdoor playing fields and tennis courts, and a variety of other building and resources necessary for the maintenance of a large, diverse campus.
The area around the school is a living example of the dynamic growth of İstanbul. We have seen out surroundings change from a rural environment to the scene of intense construction activity as the city stretches its limits ever outward. Fueled by the building of the new airport, as well as of a major new university and new industry, there has been an equally active expansion of both residential areas and support infrastructure. It is reasonable to expect that the campus itself will become an island of green in an increasingly populous area. Master planning for the school's future includes a clear awareness of the importance of preserving and enhancing the beauty of its natural setting.
